Oryon cores are coming at the end of 2024 in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4
Qualcomm has confirmed that the highly anticipated Oryon cores will be introduced in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, which is expected to be released late in 2024. This announcement was made at the Snapdragon Summit, where Qualcomm revealed its plan to bring the Oryon cores, initially introduced in the Snapdragon X Elite, to the mobile segment in 2024. It is likely that flagship smartphones like the Xiaomi 15 or the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra in 2025 will incorporate this powerful feature to enhance their performance and efficiency.
Although the Oryon cores in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 may not directly match the performance of the PC sector’s 12-core computing monster with a TDP of up to 80 watts, Qualcomm has promised that the single-core CPU performance will surpass that of the Apple M2. This significant improvement in CPU performance is expected to propel smartphones into a whole new dimension in 2025. Furthermore, Qualcomm has an entire year to optimize the Oryon cores, ensuring even lower power consumption. As a result, waiting for the release of Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 phones could prove to be worthwhile, particularly for performance enthusiasts.
